Stitches. If you've had stitches after tearing or an episiotomy (cut), bathe them every day to help prevent infection. Have a bath or shower with plain warm water then carefully pat yourself dry. If your stitches are sore or uncomfortable, tell your midwife.
Can I take a bath a week after giving birth?
You should not take a bath until your incision has healed, and your doctor says it's okay. In most cases, the incision takes about three weeks to heal. To be safe, you may want to wait until after your six-week postpartum checkup before taking a full bath. Until then, you can take showers.
