What temperature do you wash cloth nappies in?
Many people wash at 40° with a 60° wash every so often. Some nappy wrap manufacturers recommend a max temp of 40° for their products (and bamboo fibre is also best washed at a maximum of 40° ) so check labels before use.
Why do cloth diapers smell like ammonia?
Our kidneys turn it into urea and we safely pee it out. So, it's there in the pee in form of urea. When the urine is on the fabric in the diaper pail, (or even on baby overnight), it chemically changes as it breaks down. The result is ammonia stink.
